The Life Amphitheater has become a sought-after venue for many national Christian recording artists, drawing huge crowds. The Life Amphitheater: Reaching Central Oregon Message November 11, 2016 Across The Nation, Archive, Breaking, Current Issue 1193 Font Size » Large | SmallIn 2003 Christian Life Center in Bend, Oregon, pastored by Dan LeLaCheur, broke ground on a new venue that would turn the “pit,” a large, collapsed lava tube on the church property, into an amphitheater. The vision for the amphitheater first came to Associate Pastor John Bluebaugh in 1998 during an early morning prayer meeting. After years of waiting for God’s timing, working through legal issues, laying roughly 10,000 cinder blocks and 42,000 square feet of sod, and installing landscaping, the beautiful Life Amphitheater was ready. Since opening Life Amphitheater, the church has hosted many events and concerts. Concerts have included artists Casting Crowns, Third Day, Amy Grant, Lincoln Brewster, Brandon Heath, Colton Dixon, and Peter Furler, former lead singer of the Newsboys. The church also uses the venue for its annual Easter Family Fun Day, which is free to the community. This past September Christian Life Center partnered with LMG Concerts and New Life Radio 97.5 to host the first annual New Life Fest, featuring CCM recording artists MercyMe, Jeremy Camp, David Crowder, Salvador, and new artists The Incandescent. The event was a tremendous success with over 3,000 in attendance. The festival included food trucks, a Kidz Zone with playground, bounce houses, face painting, and Veggie Tales characters. On September 29, 500 believers attended the first annual Community Prayer BBQ, hosted by CLC as a follow-up to the first annual Good Friday Prayer Breakfast held this past Easter.
