OPEN BIBLE CHRISTIAN CENTER PROVIDES DINNERS FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS

For the seventh year in a row, members of Open Bible Christian Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, provided free chicken dinners to all fire fighters in eight different firehouses throughout the Rapid City area who were on duty on July 4. The church also provided the dinners for patrol deputies and those working at the county jail, the dispatch center, police department, and the juvenile center, and helped feed workers, volunteers, and residents at the downtown mission. In all, the church gave out 450 pieces of chicken, baked beans, watermelon, chips, dessert, and drinks to more than 200 people.

The sheriff’s department was so appreciative of the dinner that they posted this picture with church members Larry and Fran Bauer to publicly thank OBCC on their Facebook page.

The outreach is the brainchild of OBCC’s former outreach and discipleship pastor, Christi Hendrickson, who now serves as OBCC’s Pastor of Education, elementary school principal, and administrator of Legacy School of Ministry. Jerry Houchens, OBCC’s current outreach and discipleship pastor, expressed his appreciation for the more than 20 volunteers who boxed up and delivered the meals. He said, “As the new pastor of outreach and discipleship ministries, it is my pleasure to continue to organize and help facilitate this outreach to our community. It is a small way to support these hard-working people who are serving our community during the Fourth of July holiday.”
