The Open Bible National Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Brian P. Ehlers has been appointed to serve as our next secretary/treasurer. Brian has most recently been serving as executive assistant to Tom Rupli, East Region Executive Director.

Brian has a diverse background that has uniquely prepared him for his new chapter of service. He has been a pastor who assumed leadership of a struggling congregation and led it to stability and relocation into a new facility. He is a trained church planting coach, coaching planters in both East and Southeast regions. His responsibilities with East Region include oversight of ministerial credential applications. In addition to leading church planting and coaching planters for the region, Brian also helped church plants establish proper bylaws. Prior to entering ministry, Brian served as vice president of a financial investment company and was self-employed for a season. During this time he presented financial seminars to congregations, educating them about biblical concepts and practical applications in work, giving, financial management, and debt reduction. During that era he was also officially registered as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, with a major in business administration and finance. He also earned a Master of Arts in Theology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

“I had the privilege of working closely with Brian Ehlers for a number of years in East Region,” said Randall Bach. “I know well his character, integrity, passion for the Lord, commitment to serve with excellence, and pastor’s heart. He will be a blessing to all of Open Bible Churches, from the local church to the national office.”

Darcy Ehlers, Brian’s wife, and he delight in raising twin daughters, Hannah and Abigail. The Ehlers family will be moving to Des Moines in the coming months. Brian will start his orientation on May 1 and will assume full responsibility for the secretary/treasurer duties when Teri Beyer retires at the end of June. Teri will continue on retainer to serve as Open Bible’s legal consultant, advising Randall and Brian while relinquishing all other duties and her office at the national office. Accordingly Brian will continue to fulfill his current regional church plant coaching commitments either to completion or until a smooth transition can be made to another trained coach.

Brian said, “I am looking forward to working with the national office team to make a positive impact for God’s Kingdom and the Open Bible movement. I believe God has great things in store as we serve the Open Bible constituency. My heart is to work with the team to help resource Open Bible ministers and potential Open Bible minsters with tools and national office systems that will help them become everything God has called them to be.”
