Francis, senior pastor of Living Word Open Bible, Inc. in Cooper City, Florida, was appointed to serve as a regionally appointed member on the National Board of Directors of Open Bible Churches effective September 1, 2017. President Randall A. Bach said, “Pastor Karl Francis brings a wealth of wisdom and experience to the table. His contribution as a member of the National Board of Directors will be a blessing.” Karl and his wife, Dyrie, came to the United States from Jamaica in 1981. An executive banker, Karl served as an associate pastor for 12 years before he and Dyrie planted Living Word Open Bible in 1993. Karl has served Open Bible in many other capacities as well: on the Global Missions Board since 1997, as a district director in Southeast Region since 2008, and on Open Bible’s Commission on Biblical Education and Ministerial Training since 2015. “My varied business background, together with many years in ministry at the local, district, and regional levels, enables me to bring a wide range of experiences that will direct my perspective,” he said. “I am also very passionate about advancing the kingdom of God through the local church. I believe with this combination, I will be able to make a positive contribution and with God’s help an impactful one.” Southeast Regional Executive Director Jim Beaird said, “Karl Francis is a leader of leaders. Under his leadership, the south district of the Southeast Region has doubled and is producing leaders and church planters. He brings a unique perspective to anything he undertakes for the kingdom of God.” Karl previously served on the National Board from 2007-2011. Regional appointed members to the board serve a maximum of two consecutive two-year terms.
