Mount Pleasant Church of the Open Bible in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, hosts a Cookie Walk each December to connect with the community and raise money for Global Missions. Past themes have ranged from quilts to nativities to teapots to those serving in the military.

The theme of this past year’s cookie walk, held December 10, was missions and featured flags from countries around the world, globes, and a display board featuring Open Bible missionaries. By 8:00 a.m. when the event was scheduled to begin, a line of shoppers had already formed at the door. The church’s pastor, Mike Johnson, greeted them and invited them to browse tables filled with more than a hundred platters of cookies and candies, freshly-baked cinnamon and pecan rolls, jellies, breads, pies, and more, all donated by the congregation. Shoppers could also enjoy a time of fellowship (or prayer, if desired) over complimentary cinnamon rolls and coffee.

This year’s Cookie Walk raised $4,300 for missionaries, the walk’s highest amount to date. Event organizer Judy Williamson said, “People in the community now expect this event. We are looking forward to seeing the blessings of the Lord continue to multiply as His mighty name is declared to the world.”
