From June 2016 through December 2017, Open Bible Chaplain Ben Hines attended the U.S. Army Chaplain Family Life Training Center in Fort Hood, Texas, with concurrent schooling at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, in Killeen, Texas.

He received a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas A&M-Central Texas and a Certificate of Training for completing the Army Family Life Chaplain Training Course.

Ben’s training included 60 credit hours of education including classes in Family Systems Theory, Abnormal Psychology, Trauma and Grief Therapy, and Ministering to Military Families. He completed a counseling internship of over 500 hours of marriage and family counseling and received over 200 hours of clinical supervision. He also completed a challenging course of theological integration, pastoral identity formation, and personal growth through individual mentoring and group process.

Ben will serve as Director of the Fort Lee Family Life Ministries Center in Virginia, where he will be joined by his wife, Cathy, and their children. Ben would like to thank Cathy for her support during this 18 months of demanding training. He would also like to thank Open Bible for their endorsement and prayer support with a special thank you to Open Bible Chaplain Ministries and the Open Bible Chaplain Endorser, Terry Meek.

Chaplain (Colonel) Terry Meek (RET), the Director of Open Bible Churches Chaplain Ministries, attended the graduation ceremony. He said, “The Chaplain Corps highly respects the ministry that Chaplain (Major) Benjamin Hines has rendered to the soldiers and their families within the Army. He impressed them so much that he was selected to represent the Army as a Director of Family Life Ministry at Fort Lee, Virginia. The Army recommends only five to seven selectees out of the entire Chaplain Corps to be given this honor. We are honored to have such a fine family representing Open Bible to our service members.”
